RAG & FLAG
RAG is an annual event organised by NUSSU which rounds off and completes the NUS orientation experience. Freshmen of various faculties and halls put up colourful, vibrant and eye-catching performances to thank the public for generously contributing donations to FLAG day. Freshmen are highly encouraged to participate in RAG as it gives them opportunities to make new friends and would also help to strengthen existing friendships made during Law Camp.
NUS Law Rag & Flag 2019 will be raising funds on behalf of Community Chest for 22 social service organisations. Community Chest will be allocating the funds raised appropriately according to the needs of each charity organisation.
FLAG is an annual NUS tradition where freshmen are mobilised all across Singapore to raise funds for various beneficiaries. Each faculty/hall of residence will raise funds for a selected beneficiary. All proceeds raised will go toward the cause of the beneficiary and will help sustain their efforts to improving the community.
There are 3 main components which make up a RAG performance.
Dance – For freshmen who love to express themselves through dance!
Floats – Freshmen who are involved in floats will design, construct and paint the floats. Although they are not as prominent as the dancers, they play an important behind the scenes role. Floaters are involved in the transportation of floats and may even play a part in helping the performance come alive by moving the props and floats on stage during the actual performance.
Costumes – Freshmen will design and create costumes for dancers
Freshmen who are interested must be willing to commit their entire summer as the RAG performance requires intense preparation.
