Project mediation
Under Project Mediation, freshmen can expect to plan and conduct two legal workshops, which are aimed at spreading awareness of mediation as an effective and appropriate dispute resolution.
The first workshop will be conducted in collaboration with TOUCH Community Services’ Project YouthPhoria, and it aims to impart conflict resolution skills inherent in legal mediation to youths from disadvantaged backgrounds. After the workshops, youths will also be able to apply what they have learnt through scenario-based role-play activities.
The second workshop aims to promote and spread awareness of mediation for employment disputes. In partnership with the People Association’s Mountbatten Youth Network, participants will learn about common employment disputes, their general rights as employees and the dispute resolution processes at the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management and the Employment Claims Tribunal. A volunteer lawyer would also be present to answer any questions from the participants.
This will be an exciting introduction to the world of alternative dispute resolution!
